LMARCO SMITH
A native of Oakland, California though well-traveled and highly influenced by many artists such as BRANDY,olanda Adams, Tonex, Kim Burrell, Brian McKnight,etc, LMarco is a Junior currently majoring in Music/Vocal Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Talberg and Maestro Steven Kronhaur.
God has richly blessed LMarco with many gifts, talents and abilities which he has/does passionately share with the world inspiring through heartfelt songs and lyrical prowess yet mature humility. At the young age of two and a half years old, LMarcos boldness allowed him to lead Center of Hopes 85-voice childrens choir on its Annual Day program. By age three, he had already pronounced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. With childish innocence he would boldly walked up to anyone gesturing them to pick him up so he could lay hands and pray for them. Thus, he earned the nicknames of: "shouting John", "preacha", "Bishop", and "Reverend LMarco" and would regularly set up "church" at home with his faithful member "Momma".
By age five, he had written and performed his own first solo " I Am A Child of the Most High God at COHs (Dr. Ernestine C. Reems) Annual Founders Day celebration receiving lengthy standing ovations and encores. It was here that he first sang background in the choir for Tremaine Hawkins as well as in the young adult choir under the direction of Alfreda Smith, Dana Robinson and Derrick Hall.
At the request of many pastors, relatives, teachers, friends, etc., LMarco has and continues to inspire many in various settings for which he has received many accolades, awards and honors including: US NAVY, NW Chapter NAACP, San Francisco Boys Chorus, NW Gospel Music Radio Announcer Guild and GMWA featuring the Rance Allen Group, opening artist for Kim Burrell and Dawkins&Dawkins, US Achievement Academy, Sacramento Chapter Links Inductee, Best Male Vocalist, Outstanding Leader And Vocalist for Sheldon Highs Vocal Ensemble, Produced and Performed at Sheldons 05 Graduation at Arco Arena, Selected to represent and won OMEGA Psi Phi -Sacramento and Regional Competition in Palm Springs, CA, received "Superior" at Golden Empire Music Fest, etc.
inducted into the International Scholars Laurete Program Delegation of Music in 2008, and, academically, making the National Dean's List.
LMarcos faith, dedication, hard-work, willingness to learn and perseverance continues to propel him in all areas of his life including academically for which he has earned scholarships to help fund his education at CSULB. His daily inspirations are God, his love of/for "the Arts", friends, siblings and his parents, both also creatively blessed --(his dad, "J. SMOOTH" is a masterful bass player who has played for Twinkie Clark, Kim Burrell, The Hawkins, James Bignon to name a few, while his mother "JahzbaszdrELIZtry" is an avid singer/songwriter of music and poetry who also performs dramatically unique "spoken word".
He has many musical projects and theatrical performances to his credits as well including lead performances in "Viva Las Vegas", "School House Rock (Live)", "I Feel The Fire", "Validated" 2008 and more.
